Join us at the Great New York State Fair for an evening of storytelling and fun! Ten tellers will be chosen at random to share their true, 5-min. story based on the theme: Life in New York State.

To be in the running to be one of the storytellers, you can pre-register here (or sign up the day of):

Judges will choose three storytellers to receive medals and gift baskets of New York products from Taste NY. Among the judges will be Sean Kirst, author and columnist for the Buffalo News and former columnist for the Syracuse Post-Standard.

The Slam will take place at the Empire Theater on the Fair grounds on August 31 from 6-8pm.

A story slam is a competition based on the art of storytelling, allowing folks to share their experiences by crafting stories within a time limit.

And don’t miss Unravel: True Tales Inspire Improv Comedy the following evening. Unravel features three master storytellers, including Sean Kirst, each followed by improv comedy inspired by the stories.

The Story Slam is a co-production of The Salt City Story Slam, Genevieve Sponsler, and The Great New York State Fair.
